Markus & Andrea Laegl

Blogging from Markus' iBook wifi in his apartment above a very cool pub overlooking the trendier side of Dresden. Markus is the base leader for 24-7 Prayer Germany. This is a wonderful community house of eight people. Their hospitality is much appreciated...tonight I'll sleep in the loft next to roomy Carlos Sanchez (Mexico base leader) who affectionately refers to himself as the Overlord of Mexico....in a 24-7 Prayer kind of way.

Two nights ago, in the middle of our time together as 13 nations we prayed together for our American brothers and sisters who were requesting prayer for the gulf coast as Rita was closing in. The cacophany of prayer that went up to heaven in the next few moments is hard to explain...I have rarely been among a body of people so fervently one with one another before God. The boldness. The volume. The different languages. All crying out to God for his intervention. Pete Greig read about creation groaning. The next day when the positive report came in about Rita, our whole gathering cheered.

Last night, we had a great party at a pub. You have to imagine 13 nations, German beer, cheers, music, a German auctioning off his long hair for 200 euros to raise money for our two brothers from Macedonia. I wept. The love was incredible. People packed shoulder to shoulder for hours. Having such a beautiful time together. God is birthing something substantial through 24-7. As people started leaving the pub at 2 am I held open the door for dozens and dozens of people....I thought of David's words "I would rather be a doorkeeper in the house of my God than dwell in the tents of the wicked." I wept again.

Well, Carlos just walked in with Donairs for everyone. Time to fuel up before the trek home to Canada in the morning.

I'll try to write from Frankfurt before flying to Vancouver.
